The East Midlands can proudly boast some of the oldest and most traditional English pubs in England. The Plough Inn, Diseworth is a particularly good example, parts of the original building date back to the 13th century ( survey carried out by Nottingham University in 1988). Through the centuries the Plough has seen many architectural changes; rooms were boarded up and forgotten and a false ceiling built to cater to the modernization of the 1970's. It wasn't until new tenants took over the running of the pub in 1997 and massive renovations commenced that the traditional style was unearthed. Herringbone masonry and hidden beams were rediscovered and have since become significant features of this rather lovely building.
Today the Plough offers all the ambience of a traditional country pub with comfortable surroundings and pleasant atmosphere. Relax in front of cosy open coal fires and don't forget to duck as you enter the aptly named 'Duck Lounge'.
The Plough welcomes families with children in either the sunny conservatory or the large beer garden. Sports enthusiasts will enjoy our Skysports coverage.
